Two weeks ago I was making lunch when a random thought struck me: wouldn't it be cool to make bossfight music for past rekt fights?
Upon which I was immediately struck with inspiration for the start of a tune, I grabbed my M8 and jotted it down not to forget it, all while heating Hekx's lunch :gh:
I present to you "Gareth, Challenger of the Void". Entirely made on the M8.

Been a while since I actually finished something - had a long stint of "ideas for songs but not enough inspiration or drive to actually finish them", but now I've actually finished something again. An LSDj (gameboy) song for the Myths of Ganeia album. It's the one with the most "phrases" (the smallest block of music LSDj uses, a block of 16 notes) so far (180+) - I was worried I'd run out while making it because you can only have 256 of them, but apparently still a good ways away from that limit. :)
I imagine it's a sort of Dramatic Finale song.

Forgot to post this one when I finished it back in December.
https://dinosawer.bandcamp.com/track/th ... -adventure
It's called "The Spirit of Adventure" and is vaguely inspired by space and post-rock. Made on my M8 with some samples from LSDj and some synth sounds from my new Sonicware Liven Evoke (a small synth specialised in semi-acoustic sounding "cinematic" sounds) in the middle part.
While not directly inspired by REKT, if I ever make enough REKT songs to fill an album I'd probably stick it on there because it fits the vibe.
Haven't gotten around to making a youtube vid for it yet, will edit it in when I do

Couple songs behind again...

The M8 Discord runs 3-weekly "jams" where you can make a song with a certain theme and optional challenge and it seemed fun to try and participate a bit in that this year. This is the first one.
https://dinosawer.bandcamp.com/track/ec ... ark-future
Used my MIDISID (commodore 64 soundchip synthesizer) run through an effect pedal for the synth sounds on this (because the challenge was "use something new to you").
The theme was "Fortune Telling" so the vibe is intended to be, like, a potential future, so apocalyptic, that just the possibility of it occurring is enough to send ominous ripples back in space time, there to observe for those who know how. In a sci fi vibey way. ish.
I'd stick this one on the REKT album too since it fits the vibe in my view.

Then a little later I finished this one based on the REKT boss battle we just finished.
Made on the M8, with Liven Evoke, Pocket Miku (as Chibi Lorelei and the voice of an ancient past) and Chase Bliss Lost & Found.
https://dinosawer.bandcamp.com/track/the-fires-of-ugeth
Some design notes:
First part: fight starts and we notice that it is not easy!
1:40 "fucking move", armel almost roasted, armel loses an arm, we run the fuck away
2:10 Tnai almost dies, Serious Mode is engaged, Lorelei bathes Ugeth which it doesn't like
2:40 Armel duels the Gloomstalker, something weird and old is watching (note that this is the only part of the song where the thundering footsteps of the Ugeth cannot be heard, instead replaced with a skittering quick percussion to evoke the sneaky insect-like gloomstalker
3:15 back to the Ugeth fight for an exiting finale! It breathes fire a couple of times for good measure
4:05: with laser and guns Thomas and Raul take it down, it falls down with a thud

Annnnd the last one
https://dinosawer.bandcamp.com/track/autumn-mood
Wrote another song for an M8 Discord jam. Theme was "Forest". I decided to use it to try out the Pocket Miku so all sounds are made by it with external FX. Kind of an entirely different style from what I normally write but it's fun to do something different now and then.
The text is 4 old japanese poems I found on the Met Museum site glued together. I don't know Japanese so I apologise for what is no doubt a crime to the language. It should translate to this:
"Across the fields and hills
my spirits buoyed with joy—
Making my way back,
accompanied to my bedroom,
by this autumn’s night moon.

The garden is blanketed,
not with snow, but with blossoms
summoned earlier by a tempest—
and now the only thing falling down
is my ever-aging body.

At dusk and dawn,
I could not stop gazing
upon the plum blossoms—
so when was the moment
they started to fade?

Gazing into the distance,
in a melancholy autumn mood,
is it for me alone that winds
howl through boughs of pines
on that solitary peak?"

Another 2 songs:
one on the M8 for a discord jam. Theme was "Crunchy" and challenge was "sample a daily life sound" so I made the percussion out of sounds of me making coffee.

and another gameboy song for Myths of Ganeia. One or two more and the album is finished, I think.
